Real estate lawyer Ashleigh Black led The Real Estate Lawyers Association of North Carolina (RELANC) quarterly board meeting yesterday. Ashleigh is a director and chairs the 400+ member nonprofit. The association advocates on behalf of real estate attorneys and their clients. It monitors legislation that affects real property rights and addresses the constant change of ethical representation and client protection. Recent areas of focus include e-closings, cyber-fraud and security and mechanics lien legislation as well as detecting and fighting the unauthorized practice of law which often occurs in local communities.
