Civil Defense Litigators Melissa Dewey Brumback and Amanda Just presented “Strategic Considerations and Best Practices for Defending Against Multiparty Defect Claims” for the Construction Section of NCADA’s 2023 Fall Seminar on October 6th. Melissa and Amanda discussed benefits and risks of being involved in complex, multi-party construction defect lawsuits, expounding on contractual roles, pros and cons of crossclaims, tolling agreements, joint defense agreements and sharing experts.
Melissa and Amanda have a deep understanding of the construction business, defending architects, engineers, builders, and contractors in claims of all sizes as well as extensive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements in all aspects of the industry. Melissa is a Panel Member of the American Arbitration Association in Construction Law, Council Member of the Construction Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, and is Chair of its AIA/Design Professionals Liaison Committee. Amanda is a member of the Bars of New York, North Carolina and Maryland with over fourteen years of defense litigation experience in varied areas including construction, health care, transportation, and toxic tort.
