Melissa Dewey Brumback was the featured speaker at the American Institute of Architecture (AIA) Winston Salem May 20th member lunch presenting “7 Critical Mistakes that Architects Make During Project Negotiation & Execution that Sabotage their Projects and Invite Litigation.” Through this presentation, Melissa discussed small changes to a designer’s practice that reduce risk, including specifics regarding defining the scope of work, ensuring contracts are not one-sided, and handling the project when it appears that it is headed to a lawsuit. The presentation qualified to give each attendee an earned LU credit.
Melissa is a well-respected author and presenter in the construction industry. She has defended architects and engineers in hundreds of construction, and professional liability cases of all sizes, typically involving multi-party lawsuits. Additionally, she has extensive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements in all aspects of the industry as well.
