Dottie Burch Named Chair of the Equine Law Subcommittee for the American Bar Association

Dottie Bass Burch has been appointed Chair of the Equine Law Subcommittee of the American Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee. The committee is under the ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section. The subcommittee’s goal is to educate TIPS members on the diverse facets of equine law. Equine law involves issues not only regarding the welfare of the horse, but also business issues including transactions, litigation, and Association representation for Olympic and international athletes in the world of sport horses. Ms. Burch will begin service August, 2012.
Dottie heads Ragsdale Liggett’s Equine Law division which is one of the few equine law practices in the state of North Carolina. An avid horsewoman herself with years of experience in the equine industry from legal, business and personal perspectives, she serves on the Board of Directors and the Executive Board for the North Carolina Horse Council. She is a frequent speaker for an Equine Science course at the North Carolina State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Science.
