Dorothy Burch Named Chair of the American Bar Association’s Equine Law Subcommittee

December 20, 2012

Attorney Dottie Burch has been appointed Chair of the Equine Law Subcommittee of the American Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee, a committee which operates within the ABA’s Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section. The subcommittee’s goal is to educate TIPS members and ABA members at large on the diverse facets of equine law. Equine law involves issues not only regarding the welfare of the horse, but also business issues including transactions, litigation, and association representation for Olympic and international athletes in the world of sport horses.

Dottie Burch heads Ragsdale Liggett’s Equine Law Practice Group and is one of few equine lawyers in the state of North Carolina. An avid horsewoman with years of experience in the equine industry from legal, business and personal perspectives, Dottie also serves on the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee for the North Carolina Horse Council and is a frequent speaker at North Carolina State University’s College of Agriculture and Life Science.
