Two of our lawyers have extraordinary experience in this area. Jim Conner has practiced government law for nearly three decades, and spent six years as an administrative law judge presiding over Medicaid appeals, Certificate of Need litigation and other matters. He has extensive experience representing health care clients at all levels. He recently won a decision from the Court of Appeals that will fundamentally change the way Medicaid mental health issues are handled in North Carolina (McCrann v. DHHS). Knicole Allen represented the Department of Health and Human Services as an Assistant Attorney General. Her experience gives our attorneys a unique perspective regarding what the Department reviews when determining authorization of Medicaid services and endorsements. She has appeared in the Office of Administrative Hearings in hundreds of cases.
