Charles J. Vaughan III, Associate, Business

Charles J. Vaughan III is an associate practicing in the firm's business law department since 2005.  His practice focuses on general corporate law including: the organization of business corporations, limited liability companies and general and limited partnerships; advising business entities regarding their business strategies, plans and decisions, including business succession planning, employment issues and general day-to-day business concerns; planning and implementing mergers and acquisitions; franchise law, including assisting franchise purchasers and owners; and preparation and review of all types of commercial and business contracts.  Charles also has experience assisting mortgage lender and broker companies with obtaining the requisite licensing to do business in states across the country.
 
Charles spends most of his free time outdoors and advocates protecting North Carolina’s beautiful parks and waterways by balancing economic and environmental goals.  He supports various local environmentally focused activities such as the Annual Neuse River Spring Clean-Up and has a strong interest in environmental and water resources law and their rapidly growing significance in North Carolina’s future. 

Charles grew up in Woodland, North Carolina and graduated from Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia.  He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in both English and Mathematics from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001. He also obtained his Juris Doctor from The University of North Carolina School of Law in 2005.   

Charles currently resides in Raleigh.  Although his varied interests and hobbies keep him busy, Charles finds time to volunteer with the Adopt-A-Highway program, Sustainable NC, events benefiting Wake County Hospice and Wake County Women’s Center and other activities in the Triangle community.
