FIRM HISTORY
The immediate predecessor of Ragsdale, Liggett PLLC was the Raleigh office of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, which was formed in February, 1987, as a result of a merger between the New York City based firm of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae (then known as LeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby & MacRae) and the Raleigh, North Carolina, firm of Moore, Ragsdale, Liggett, Ray & Foley, P.A. In 1982, LeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby & MacRae had opened an office in Raleigh, headed by Joseph E. Johnson, a North Carolina State Senator and graduate of Wake Forest School.
Moore, Ragsdale, Liggett, Ray & Foley, P.A. was founded in 1972 by George R. Ragsdale and Frank R. Liggett III, as Ragsdale & Liggett. In 1979, Ragsdale & Liggett was pleased to add its senior partner, former North Carolina Governor Dan K. Moore, who joined the firm after retiring as an Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. In 1983, the firm incorporated and changed its name to Moore, Ragsdale, Liggett, Ray & Foley, P.A.
